Peanut Butter Smoothie

This smoothie is rich in peanut butter and currant jelly – it is so reminiscent of a wonderful PBJ peanut butter jelly sandwich. The Peanut Butter Jelly sandwich brings back wonderful childhood memories. And many people believe it is not healthy, which is not true it all depends on your ingredients!

Creamy and Filling

A peanut butter smoothie is wonderfully creamy filling and leaves you satisfied – and it’s not too sweet at all, add a little trace of salt to make the flavours come out.

Ingredients for 3 to 4 smoothies

  • 2 bananas
  • 2 cups of yogurt or skyr
  • 2 cups of oat drink or your desired milk option
  • 2-3 tablespoons of peanut butter (made from 100% peanuts)
  • 1 – 2 tbsp honey
  • possibly a pinch of salt (try it first)

Place these ingredients in a blender until a uniform liquid has formed. You can also add or top with HIVE Peanut Butter Chocolate Granola.

To make your own Peanut Butter: roast your natural peanuts in the oven at 150 degrees until they are a light brown, place peanuts is a processor along with coconut oil and maple syrup, process to the texture you desire.

Top With Jelly

Mix about a tablespoon of fruit spread made of berries or even currant jelly per glass without refined sugar additives, you can find several options in health food. Mix roughly, so that beautiful stripes or traces form in the glass.

Peanuts are healthy?

Peanuts contain fibre, healthy fats and protein, they do have a high calorie content but their benefits are plenty of potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin B.  So a small sacrifice for this nutrient rich low in carbohydrates treat!
